Food Environment in New Jersey
Alongside the nutrition database, this page is being built to show what food access looks like in New Jersey: grocery and supermarket counts per person, the share of residents living in a food desert, the number of farmers markets and SNAP-authorized retailers, and diet-related health measures — county by county — from the USDA Food Environment Atlas, USDA Local Food Directories and CDC.
In the meantime, the USDA food composition database is searchable at fdc.nal.usda.gov, and the Food Environment Atlas is at ers.usda.gov.
